Children's services chiefs have called for a ‘meaningful relationship' between Whitehall and local government over how schools are run.

Speaking yesterday at his organisation's annual conference in Manchester, the president of the Association of Directors of Children's Services (ADCS), Dave Hill, said ‘please can we stop the pernicious narrative that goes local authority involvement with schools is de factor a bad thing?'
