HIPs revaluation claims dismissed

The Department for Communities and Local Government has dismissed claims that data from Home Information Packs – which become operational this week – will be used to push up council tax.

The Conservative Party has warned information from HIPS would provide a database for the revaluation of private homes. Shadow DLCG secretary Eric Pickles claimed the Valuation Office applied for access to the data, which it would use ahead of council tax revaluation in England.
