Holiday time for conference nerds

Michael Burton on the ever more populist measures advocated by reduced and increasinlgy unrepresentative politicl parties.

Some people play golf.  Others enjoy fishing.  A few like attending party conferences where they can share views fully and freely behind closed doors as consenting adults and not be bothered about the difficult real world outside.

As party membership declines, so the faithful who turn up increasingly represent the hard core of their parties, those less likely to tack to the middle ground.
