Homeless figures increase across England and Wales

England and Wales have seen a significant increase in homelessness over the last year.

England and Wales have seen a significant increase in homelessness over the last year, with English levels increasing by 14%, and figures obtained by BBC Wales showing an 11% hike across the devolved nation.

Housing minister Grant Shapps said the new figures, released on 8 March, show many households are still suffering from the ‘debt laden economy' and urged those at risk of losing their home to seek early help from councils.
