The number of households declared homeless by councils has risen by 13% since last year, according to the latest government statistics.

The number of households declared homeless by councils has risen by 13% since last year, according to the latest government statistics.

Information released yesterday by the Department for Communities and Local Government showed 35,680 households have been defined as homeless since the beginning of the year.
