Homelessness rises dramatically over the last year with almost a fifth more people officially categorised as having nowhere to live.

Homelessness has taken a dramatic rise over the last year with almost a fifth more people officially categorised as having nowhere to live.

A total of 11,820 applicants are now determined homeless and eligible to go on council housing waiting lists, government figures revealed on 8 September.
