The Government's New Homes Bonus could help expedite new building developments across local authorities, but only if ministers build into their policy sufficient incentives – or the system could fall foul of Britain's ‘nimbys', industry experts have warned.

The British Property Federation, which represents many house-builders, said ministers must swiftly introduce their proposed NHB payments to councils, and a localised planning regime, if the UK house-building sector is to kick-start an economic revival.
