Honours recognise chiefs

Six council chief executives, including the boss of Norfolk CC Tim Byles, were among those named in the Queen's birthday honours list.

CBEs went to Mr Byles; the chief executive of Aberdeen City Council Douglas Paterson; and director of social services at Essex CC, Liz Railton Philip Bostock, Deborah Cadman and Ray Cowlishaw, the chief executives of Exeter City Council St Edmundsbury BC and Derby City Council respectively, were all made OBEs. Other people made OBEs included the deputy chief executive of Hammersmith and Fulham LBC, Henry Peterson; Leeds City Council's chief of libraries, arts and heritage, Catherine Blanshard; WLGA former leader Alex Aldridge; the director of the West Lothian Community Health and Care Partnership, David Kelly; and head of development and building control at Newham LBC, Vivienne Ramsey. The chief executive of Castlereagh BC, Adrian Donaldson, was made an MBE.
