Housing First's big benefit for Liverpool

Cllr Graham Morgan explains how the Liverpool City Region’s Housing First pilot is transforming lives for the better and delivering an average annual saving to the taxpayer for each service user of £34,500.

There has been an alarming rise in homelessness over the past decade.

Common reasons behind the increase include life events such as a relationship breakdown, losing a job, getting in debt and dealing with mental or physical health problems. Coupled with the ongoing cost of living crisis, with its higher rents, steep bills and more people in poverty, many are forced into homelessness when ends no longer meet.
