Soaring housing costs are pushing up welfare bills in the UK’s most prosperous cities despite their high pay economies, according to the latest Centre for Cities survey.

Soaring housing costs are pushing up welfare bills in the UK's most prosperous cities despite their high pay economies, according to the latest Centre for Cities survey.

The annual study found that cities with the lowest annual benefits bill a decade ago such as Milton Keynes, Peterborough, Slough and Swindon have reported the highest increases since then.
