New homes should be built using an architectural style in keeping with the history of their area and located on streets lined with trees, the Government has announced.

In a speech to the think tank Policy Exchange, housing secretary Robert Jenrick announced a new national model design code – called Building Beautiful Places – which outlines the materials councils should require developers to use on all new buildings in their local areas.
