A new boss has been brought in to run the High Speer Rail as the Government attempts to win over the opposing 51M group of local authorities.

Experienced civil engineer, Douglas Oakervee, has been appointed to oversee the High Speed Rail 2 project having formerly been executive chair for the body undertaking CrossRail, and also an adviser for the mayor of London on Thames river crossings and the mooted Thames Estuary airport - dubbed 'Boris Island'.
