HS2 line wins friends in the North

A North-South divide has opened up over support for the Government's High Speed Rail 2 plans.

A North-South divide has opened up over support for the Government's £33bn High Speed Rail 2 (HS2) plans, as the blueprint for phase two of the line was revealed this week.

Plans for phase one from London to Birmingham received staunch opposition from southern councils such as Buckinghamshire CC and Camden LBC, for what critics saw as a flawed business case and the destruction of picturesque landscape.
