Hurd backtracks on social enterprise obligations

Nick Hurd, minister for civil society, has tabled plans to axe the development of social enterprise strategies from a key public services bill.

The proposal is one of 20 Cabinet Office amendments to the Public Services (Social Enterprise and Social Value) Bill submitted by Mr Hurd. The private member's bill, submitted by Conservative MP Chris White, has completed its committee stage in the House of Commons.
