The Government's proposed reform of flood defence funding risks undermining safety at national infrastructure sites such as major roads and railways, experts have warned.

The Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE) has urged a rethink over plans to adjust the funding formula used to allocate flood defence cash, arguing it could direct funds too heavily towards residential areas.
