The work and pensions secretary has brushed aside criticism about the controversial universal credit scheme and claimed the final sign off of the business case is due soon.

Iain Duncan Smith defended the progress being made on the scheme after Labour MP Chris Bryant asked in the House of Commons if the Treasury had signed off on the case.
