You don't have to attend a presentation by MORI chairman Ben Page to know local government doesn't have the best reputation – but it helps.

Time and time again MORI research has shown that the public likes the services provided by councils far more than they like the councils themselves. He bandies around figures about how people rate schools, libraries and parks highly, but ask the same people if they like the council, and the answer is unlikely to be so positive.
