The impact of the Local Audit Bill

Jonathan Werran explains how a recently appointed ad hoc committee will be scrutinising the draft of the Local Audit Bill.

The House of Commons recently appointed an ad hoc committee to conduct pre-legislative scrutiny of the draft Local Audit Bill – something which rather slipped under the radar of media coverage.

The body is chaired by Margaret Hodge, chair of the influential public accounts committee (PAC), whose reputation has soared since joining the PAC, taking a no-nonsense and largely non-partisan approach to monitoring public spending.
