The impact of Total Place

The ambition of stronger intergration of public services was one which united much of the sector, says John O'Brien.

Three years ago this autumn, it would have been impossible to open this publication – or any other – which talked about local public services, without finding dozens of references to something called Total Place.

Whether you liked the title or not, its broad ambition for the stronger integration of public services – with councils using their unique local democratic mandate to play a key role in co-ordinating and commissioning public services across a locality – was one which united much of the sector.
