The importance of caring for the carers

During Carers Week, Sally Hopper outlines how her own experiences have given her an invaluable perspective in advocating for carers at work at Hertfordshire CC.

In my day job I'm the assistant director of HR, but I'm also a carer to my partner, and have been for a few years. My partner has rheumatoid arthritis and can have days where he suffers from chronic pain, which affects his mobility.

Being a carer, I have good days and bad days and I'm sure anyone who is a carer will relate to that. This can mean one minute I am caring for him and the next I am in my remote working space on MS Teams. Like many carers, where they can work remotely, this has been a godsend.
