Care minister Norman Lamb has admitted the number of days lost in the NHS to delayed discharges caused by social care shortages has not dramatically improved over the last four years.

Answering a written question in Parliament by shadow care minister, Liz Kendall, Mr Lamb said the social care system has ‘performed remarkably well' over the years.
