Councils could be forced to cut back on sector-led improvement if the Local Government Association's top-slice is slashed as feared.

A response by the Association of North East Councils (ANEC) to the Local Government Association (LGA), expected to be published on its website shortly, warned ‘continuing pressure on resources may mean that authorities need to take a more risk-based approach to improvement activity'.
