Improving foster care recruitment using service design techniques

Kat Thackray explains how local authorities can use service design techniques to improve the foster care recruitment experience.

More than 65,000 children live with almost 55,000 foster families in the UK. And every year, fewer foster carers are available to look after more children needing care.

Recruiting foster carers is challenging. It's a decision that takes people years to come to, so it's really hard to know what helps them get there. Was it that ad they saw on the bus? Did that event at their workplace help them decide?
