State of independence

Research by Scope has shown councils could be doing more to help young disabled people live independent, fulfilling lives. Jonathan Lima-Matthews highlights some of the issues.

Scope's latest report, Leading my life, my way, asked young disabled people about their experiences of the support services they receive and whether or not they are supported to live independently.

We found some promising results but identified a number of areas where councils need to improve so more young disabled people are able to meet their wider aspirations in life.
