Integrate digitally to support our young people

Caroline Hirst reflects on the importance of digital tools as part of an integrated approach to young people’s mental health

Just over a year on from the Government's Future in Mind report, it is encouraging to see the digital world becoming more embedded in delivering services to support children and young people's mental health and emotional wellbeing.

As early adopters of a digital approach, the Lewisham Children and Young People's Joint Commissioning Team – working across Lewisham LBC and Lewisham Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) – has long believed in the sentiment expressed in Future in Mind: ‘The digital world has become of utmost importance with its potential to protect and enhance the mental health and wellbeing of our children and young people'.
