Councils, hospitals and police in Greater Manchester have pledged to share information more effectively in a bid to tackle both domestic and high street violence.

The intelligence initiative, set to go live in December, will collate anonymous information gleaned from the area's accident and emergency departments with other live public sector data streams – such as those on criminal activity or local fire incidents – to provide a fuller picture on violent crime and its impact on communities.
