A leading social care expert with more than 30 years' experience of working with children and young people has been appointed as interim director of children's social services at Rochdale MBC.

Gladys Rhodes White, who started her new role this week, will work three days a week initially, and full-time from early November until a new executive director for children's services is appointed, succeeding Cheryl Eastwood, who retired this summer.
