Youth unemployment is one of the most pressing public policy issues of our time. More than ever before, as we struggle to address the consequences of an enduring economic crisis, we are in danger of consigning a generation of our young people to a long-term position on the 'sidelines' of our communities.

APSE and De Montfort University have recently completed a study of how local authorities can effectively intervene to tackle youth unemployment.'Youth Unemployment: local authorities leading the response', not only poses huge questions of social and inter-generational justice, but also contains a detailed policy analysis of youth unemployment and identifies action being taken by local authorities throughout the UK.
