Diary favourite, Jackie Weaver, has been imprinted on the UK's collective consciousness since her no-nonsense approach to dealing with rowdy parish councillors went viral.
Responding to a Parliamentary question on whether parishes could continue using online meetings to undertake council business, Mr Gove replied: ‘If during the pandemic we had not allowed councils to meet virtually, not only would we have impaired the effective working of local government, but we would never have known about Jackie Weaver and the country would have been the poorer for it.'
