Infrastructure group Balfour Beatty has announced plans to axe 650 roles across its UK division as part of a major restructuring programme.

The company – which holds key public sector contracts – admitted last week there would be redundancies among its 12,000 British workforce as it prepares to remodel its domestic business into three sections from January 2013.
