Jobless rate set to rise

An additional 200,000 people in Britain could be unemployed this time next year, the Institute for Public Policy Research has warned.

An additional 200,000 people in Britain could be unemployed this time next year, the Institute for Public Policy Research has warned.

Although official unemployment statistics, due out 12 December, are likely to record a further decrease, the think-tank's examination of figures released last week by the independent Office for Budget Responsibility (OBR) shows the situation could deteriorate.
