Former DCLG director general, Joe Montgomery, has been appointed chief executive for Europe of the Urban Land Institute.

Mr Montgomery, who spent most of his 27-year career as an urban regeneration specialist in government, will be responsible for covering the expansion of the institute's services and membership across Europe.
