Attempting to force yourself into the Guinness Book of Records is not for faint-hearted land-lubbers, as Penzance Town Council found to its cost.

Penzance, which prided itself as ‘a small town doing big town things on a shoestring' failed by 77 pirates to win the crown for attracting the largest gathering of buccaneers in one spot to its larger south coast rival Hastings.
