Essex CC chief executive Gavin Jones has confirmed he will be retiring from his role in the spring after leading the council for eight years.

Jones, who has also served for the past two years as a government-appointed lead commissioner for Thurrock and Slough councils, said his successor would lead an ‘enviable organisation'.
