Essex CC chief executive Gavin Jones has been named lead commissioner at troubled Thurrock Council.

The Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities has decided to restructure its intervention at the unitary ‘to a model of three standalone commissioners', so that Essex CC can end its formal support.
