Doncaster MBC's directly-elected mayor, Peter Davies, has won a legal battle to let volunteers run 12 libraries and to close a further two sites.
Justice Hickinbottom, at Leeds Combined Court, ruled last week that Mr Davies had acted ‘properly and lawfully', after local resident Carol Buck launched a judicial review against his plans. Mr Davies said he was pleased with the outcome, and added that more than 300 volunteers had already signed up to staff the libraries.
