The British Association of Social Workers (BASW) has warned members are still afraid to speak out after two social workers involved in the ‘Baby P’ scandal lost an appeal against their dismissal.

The British Association of Social Workers (BASW) has warned members are still afraid to speak out after two social workers involved in the ‘Baby P' scandal lost an appeal against their dismissal.

The Employment Appeal Tribunal ruled last week that Haringey LBC fairly sacked Gillie Christou and Maria Ward following the death of Peter Connelly in 2007. An earlier employment tribunal also decided that the London borough acted reasonably in dismissing them.
