Just two weeks to get it right

Local government minister, Ruth Kelly, has just two weeks to rubber stamp the local government White Paper and get it out on time.

The Department for Communities and Local Government (DCLG) could still produce the White Paper to the original June timetable, providing the minister makes her amendments in the next fortnight. If the White Paper is delayed until autumn, it faces a potential overhaul of the policies put forward by former minister, David Miliband.
