Keeping Calderdale's children closer to home

Calderdale is committed to developing more local and personalised provision for children and young people in care, says Julie Jenkins. She explains how their needs are being prioritised.

We all want our children and young people to have the best possible start in life and to achieve their potential. We have amazing teams giving their all to help achieve this, day in, day out.

However, the number of children in care is increasing in England. In Calderdale we have seen a slow rise since the first COVID-19 national lockdown, and we are experiencing first-hand the nationwide issue of escalating care costs.
