Keeping children and families safe

Lou Williams outlines why she believes the introduction of the Family Safeguarding model in Cambridgeshire will ‘make a real difference to the lives of our most vulnerable children’.

Most children who face the greatest risks to their wellbeing are those who live in families where at least one of the adults is struggling with mental or emotional health issues, substance or alcohol difficulties, or where there is domestic abuse.

To address this, Cambridgeshire CC is introducing a new approach to keeping children and families safely together by supporting parents to change their behaviour. This is thanks to a £4.15m investment from the Department for Education (DfE) which will put us at the forefront of innovation and best practice.
