Senior Liberal Democrat Richard Kemp has announced he will stand in Liverpool as a candidate in the upcoming directly-elected mayor elections.

The Liberal Democrat group in Liverpool selected Cllr Kemp at a meeting on Friday, even though both the party and the councillor himself remain opposed to the idea of an elected mayor.
