Children crossing to Dover alone will no longer be returned to France within 24 hours, but placed into care, according to a study by the OCC.

Children crossing to Dover alone will no longer be returned to France within 24 hours, but instead be placed immediately into local authority care, following a study by the Office of the Children's Commissioner (OCC).

Under the terms of a 'gentleman's agreement' with French authorities, unaccompanied young people who didn't claim asylum could be quickly returned – including those exploited for trafficking.
