Labour boasts of big devolution plans

Labour leaders have claimed the party’s devolution blueprint would benefit English local authorities more than those offered by their Conservative rivals.

Labour leaders have claimed the party's devolution blueprint would benefit English local authorities more than those offered by their Conservative rivals.

The boast was made at the launch of Labour's local election campaign in Leeds yesterday which pledged to deliver ‘the biggest devolution in England for 100 years'.

Among the key promises, Labour reconfirmed its promise to return £30bn of Whitehall controlled funding to local authorities over the next Parliament to support economic growth.
