Labour calls for council worker pay rise

Shadow levelling up secretary Lisa Nandy told the Local Government Association conference soaring inflation was the ‘last straw’ for workers.

Labour has called on the Government to ensure a pay rise for frontline council workers facing a cost of living crisis.

Speaking to the Local Government Association's (LGA) annual conference in Harrogate Lisa Nandy, the shadow levelling up secretary, said inflation was the ‘last straw' for workers who had ‘spun gold out of thread during a decade of harsh, deep cuts to the communities they serve'.
