Labour paves way for green belt building

Shadow communities secretary Hilary Benn has pledged to let councils build on green belt land if Labour wins the next General Election.

Shadow communities secretary Hilary Benn has pledged to let councils build on green belt land if Labour wins the next General Election.

Speaking to reporters over the weekend, Mr Benn said he would not step in and stop councils building on green belt land and it will be left to individual councils to weigh up where new estates should be built.
