Labour councils have welcomed their party's pledge to work with local authorities to ‘get Britain building'.

In his keynote speech to Labour's annual conference, leader Ed Miliband said the country had a ‘housing crisis' and tore into developers that hang onto land hoping for the price to rise – a practice known as landbanking.
