Labour 'won't ease up' on budget cuts

An incoming Labour government would stick to existing coalition fiscal targets.

An incoming Labour government would stick to existing coalition fiscal targets for returning the Government's current budget to surplus and decrease national debt over the next Parliament, shadow ministers have declared.

Making a speech to the Institute for Chartered Accountants in England and Wales on 30 May, shadow chief secretary to the Treasury, Chris Leslie, gave an update on the Labour party's ‘zero-based' review on government spending.
