The Labour Party has put forward its ambitious blueprint for welfare reform on how it plans to put local government at the heart of getting people back to work. Heather Jameson reports.
As local government starts to implement the coalition's changes to welfare, it is unclear what will and will not work. There is much scepticism about the pace and nature of the changes and a recent meeting suggested the Government would need to look more closely at the impact of the changes on local authority resources – and on the readiness of the ICT systems.
