'Lack of understanding' behind stalled housing

Head of the unit set up to help councils with stalled housing developments, says there is a lack of economic understanding.

The head of the ‘troubleshooting' unit set up to help councils tackle stalled housing developments this week claimed some authorities ‘don't understand all the economic options available to them'.

Speaking to The MJ, David Curtis, an executive director at the Homes and Communities Agency (HCA), suggested a number of councils lacked ‘sufficient capacity' to effectively renegotiate financial arrangements, such as Section 106 agreements, to get projects moving.
