Landmark work in the Lakes

The £1.3bn Lincolnshire Lakes project is thought to be the largest housing regeneration scheme in the North of England. Marcus Walker explains how North Lincolnshire Council approached the development and secured support for such a sizeable scheme

The Lincolnshire Lakes project aims to transform the economy and image of North Lincolnshire by developing a new waterside setting for business, leisure and housing. It is one of the most ambitious ‘place-making' projects in the country.

It will deliver five new lakes, six new villages, leisure areas and a new football stadium on eight square miles of greenfield land between Scunthorpe and the River Trent.
